LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
LG counter-depth refrigerators provide plenty of storage into small footprints. These counter-depth refrigerators are also cheaper than standard-depth French-door refrigerators, and can remove the need for an under-counter smaller freezer. LG Smart Mirror InstaView counter-depth refrigerator (LMWC23626S) is no exception, offering the capacity of a standard fridge in an elegant, modern design, with an integrated dispenser that makes it easy to access the water filter.

The refrigerator uses a door cooling system that makes use of vents on the fridge and freezer doors to allow cold air to enter. It prevents hot spots and helps keep temperatures consistent throughout the fridge.
This LG refrigerator stands out in our tests and offers plenty of capacity to keep a family well-fed however, it has some quirks that we found to be annoying. The drawers for the freezer aren't as cold as we'd like. The middle drawer was 41 degrees during our peak testing which is hot enough for ice cream and other frozen items. The temperature of the rest of the freezer remained about 36 degrees.
Another issue is that refrigerator doors have sunken handles on the inside and underneath making it difficult for people who are shorter to comfortably close them. This may seem insignificant, but we prefer front-mounted handles on refrigerators, which make them easier to open and close.
The fridge is expensive, but it's well worth the money for anyone who wants an ultra-modern appearance in their kitchen. This fridge is recommended for those looking to upgrade their current refrigerator or for those who are building new homes and want to have a seamless look for their kitchen.
Samsung Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
Samsung's latest counter-depth French-door refrigerator, the RF23M8090SG, is priced at $4200. It's a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable "FlexZone" drawer. It also performed well during our cooling test, however we're not a fan of the gimmicky handles or flimsy crisper bins.

Bespoke is one of the features that makes the RF23M8090SG stand out. It lets you personalize your refrigerator with removable colored panels. There are 11 colors to choose from that range from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. The panels can be customized to include photos or text. This will make the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon or tie-dye Crocs.
The LED lighting can be switched to a different color which is a nice feature. The interior of the refrigerator is finished in a way that helps reduce smudges and makes cleaning a breeze. The only flaws that really bother the RF23M8090SG is its crowded beverage center, as well as a little learning curve to access the door-indoor feature that houses a water dispenser as well as a pitcher. You need to look for an unmarked lever on the underside of the door halfway across, and when you have it the lever, it opens a second door within the fridge that contains the docking station for the pitcher as well as the water dispenser, and two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic-foot freezer compartment is big enough to accommodate a large amount of frozen food items, and it features an impressive slide-out drawer system that allows you to get the food you're searching for without opening the whole compartment. There's also a butter-bin-style storage compartment inside the freezer that allows for simple storage of small items as well as a large capacity drawer that stores bulkier frozen items. The drawer can be locked with a password, ensuring that any unwanted guests are kept out. It also comes with a handy LED to help you see what's inside at a glance. The freezer is also able to monitor energy consumption and help you cut down on your energy consumption with the SmartThings that are smart and enabled with Energy mode.
Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
French door refrigerators are an excellent addition to any kitchen. They are sleek and are suitable for all sizes of rooms. If you want the convenience of this design without the additional height, a counter-depth refrigerator is the best choice. We've tried a variety of them, and this particular Frigidaire model has earned a high score in our ratings due to its low cost and thoughtful features such as an adjustable temperature drawer.
It also has a few annoying problems. Our test data shows the FGHB2866PF can heat up quite a lot in the freezer, and can become uncomfortable hot in the most inner shelves of the refrigerator. This is evident in our heat maps which show how much the internal temperatures vary from minute to minute. The orange area in the upper right corner, which is the butter bin, has been particularly warm throughout our testing period. It might not seem to be a problem at first however, the fridge is spending most of its time above 32 degrees.
It's also worth mentioning that the FGHB2866PF isn't an Energy Star-certified model. This could be important for some buyers. The issue is that this refrigerator isn't the best. It's not equipped with the latest features and is made of a slender, flimsy material which makes it difficult to recommend it over more expensive alternatives at this price.
In many ways, the Frigidaire is a stainless-steel version of a fridge that you might see at your local appliances store. It's a safe choice with a polished finish that looks nice and is resistant to smudges, but it doesn't make a lot of an effort to distinguish itself from competitors that have more features and cost less.
However, if you're looking for a low-cost counter-depth French door refrigerator but do not have the money to splurge on our best picks and the FGHC2331PF is worth looking into. It's big enough to meet the needs of the majority of families and does a great job at keeping food fresh. Even if it's not an energy-efficient model, it doesn't have the same price tag more than our top-rated models do.
